Why I love morning routines (and routines in general)

So why do I love morning routines so friggin much?  I love them because they are an amazing way to set myself up for all-day health.  This is especially important when I'm thinking about creating a sustainable healthy lifestyle- meaning health that lasts and is not just a quick fix; something that supports me each and every day.

Doing a morning routine is one of the most important things that I can do to be healthy, all day long and throughout my life. It's about more than being productive, it's more than getting things done, it's more than doing what somebody else is doing- it's figuring out how to create this sustainable lifelong health.

4 Strategies to Build Your Morning Routine

So today we're gonna dive deep into your morning routine. And I want to emphasize when you're thinking about your morning routine that we are just scratching the surface on today's episode. There is so much that goes into a morning routine. And it's important to give yourself the space and time and grace to figure out what actually serves you.

What is the morning routine that allows you to show up as your best self? So as we go through this today try not to be thinking things like, "Oh, that's the right way to do it." Think about things like, "Oh, I would feel so good if I did that," or "I've done that before. And that's really worked for me."  You want to find something that works for you, your family, and your business.  That’s going to take some strategizing!

So, before we dive into some suggestions and ideas I have about starting off your day in healthy ways. Some things that you might want to add your morning routine. I want to talk about four strategies to use when approaching your morning routine.

  1. Figure out what works for you. And when I say that what I mean is, if you follow a celebrity or somebody you really admire a colleague, and they swear by a drink, that gives them the most energy and it makes them feel so healthy, and they're just so excited about this drink, and it's THE ANSWER. And then you try the drink, and you hate it and it makes you feel awful. Then, that's probably not something you want to add to your routine. Right? You have to figure out what works for you. You have to figure out what works in your life what serves you. And so, of course, try these things give them a whirl.  But at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if it works for somebody else if it doesn't work for you.

And one more thing to consider when experimenting with things that work for you. A lot of people that are having these amazing morning routines and talking about them: They don't have kids. I feel like that needs to be stated. So, I'd invite you if you're a parent to also include not only what works for you. But what works for your family.

2. Try it out and reflect. When you're trying to figure out what works for you, you gotta try some stuff out. Exploring these things that might work for you and seeing if they work for you. I'd love it if inside of your head the language that you're using is, "how did this make me feel?", and, "did this help me to reach my goals?" 

3. Letting go of the things that don't work. Part of a morning routine is to really acknowledge what works for you and what doesn't. And when things aren't working for you to let them go.

4. Be flexible. Finding your perfect morning routine is a continuous exploration of things in your life of what's going on in your life, because things change with the seasons things change in our business, things change with our families. They change all the time. And yeah, there is stability and control and so much to be offered by a morning routine that never changes. But sometimes parts of it, don't serve us anymore. Sometimes parts of it, don't work for us anymore.
