How Burnout Busts Employee Retention

Record-breaking turnover, earning the name ‘The Great Resignation,’ is changing organizations globally and disrupting businesses. In August of 2021, 4.3 million Americans quit their jobs. Many employees are dissatisfied and burned out, leading them to seek a fresh start with better conditions or improved benefits.

According to a workplace burnout survey from Deloitte, “Seventy-seven percent of respondents say they have experienced employee burnout at their current job, with more than half citing more than one occurrence.”  Another report from Bankrate indicates that 55% of current employees are thinking about leaving their current positions. This is incredibly expensive, with the cost of replacing employees estimated to cost 2x their annual salaries.

What are employees hoping for in their new positions? People are seeking professions and workplaces that are going to provide them with an environment and culture that is beneficial for their mental health.
